Laccaria montana Singer Cap 0.5-3.5cm across, convex becoming flatter, then upturned with a tiny umbo; pale flesh-pink to pinkish brown; striate-furrowed at margin. Gills subdecurrent, thick, distant; pale pink. Stem 30-50 x 3-5mm; striate-fibrous; pinkish brown. Flesh white. Odor not distinctive. Taste not distinctive. Spores subglobose, 7.5-11.5(13) x 6-11ì; spines 0.4-1ì long. Deposit white. Basidia 4spored. Habitat stream banks and grassy areas, often outside woodlands. Found in high alpine and subalpine areas in western North America. Season August-October. Edibility not known -avoid. |
